Java was created by Sun Microsystems in 1991. It is an Object Oriented programming language which is touted to be platform-independent, hence the "write once, run everywhere" saying.
Java is most well-known for its role in the Internet by sprucing up web pages with animations and interactive applets. However, Java is also well-suited for building enterprise-wide information systems.
Q: How can it help my business?
A: Java can be used to build a new system for your business, or it can be used to enhance your existing systems, even if your systems are 20+ year old mainframe based legacy systems! The possibilities are only limited do a designers imagination.
